Above 5000ft the sea level, this place is a lesser known primitive pilgrimage. But more than anything else, the serene and profound atmosphere in a pristine setting provides an adventurous challenge and a spiritual encounter as well. Legend puts it as the place used by the Pandavas during their angyata vasa ( They were banished by the Kauravas from Hastinapur for twelve years and the following year they must hide themselves - if they are traced sometime in that year the banishment shall continue for another twelve years! What a clever idea to keep opponents away from power!)
A motorable road can take a visitor upto Burkhat(50 Kms from Paralakhemundi via Koinpur). From there one has to walk 10 KMs to the hill-top. The primitive temples - Kunti Mandir, Dharmaraj Mandir & Bhima Mandir date back to the 6th or 7th century CE. On the occasion of Shivaratri the roads are tidied up - and so it is easier finding the way. Or else it may not even be possible to get it...Kauravas were beaten - what to speak of us mortals!
